Most often than not, potential dog owners get inspiration from the internet through viral videos and movies.

Researches the breed(s) of interest
People research at most, for 2-3 weeks. Not only are there issues with finding reliable sources, but many will only scratch the surface-level. Most will only receive 10-30% of the information they need to know.
You don’t understand. In reality, it takes a long time to research and prepare yourself for 10-15 years of commitment living with a diff. species that does not behave or communicate like a human. Read About Me to better understand what I mean.

Buys the puppy and is now home!
Unfortunately, many people unknowingly purchase a puppy from a backyard breeder. There’s not enough quality information in the canine world, where people will take the time to explain how to vet out a backyard breeder.

Puppy is 8-15 months old: behavioral issues start
That “cute puppy” is no longer sleeping all day, but is becoming more unruly and sensitive to you, your family, and to the world. This is where the puppy starts to grow in to the behavior traits of their breed, and if not guided, behavioral issues will escalate.
All dogs have their issues during this stage! Bdta informs dog owners what commonly happens and their own experiences during these stages.

Research, hire trainer(s), & more research…
This is where owners will go back to researching and possibly even hiring a trainer. Most people go through 2-3 trainers until they find someone who actually helps them. This is also where they find they, “No longer have time for them”.
Many don’t find the truth, but there are 2 main components of being a dog owner: training & how you live with your dog. The lifestyle. It’s not just how you train a dog.

Gives the dog up to a shelter or rescue.
Unfortunately, the majority of dog owners do not receive the help they need, and give up on their dogs. Thousands of dogs do not make it in the system and are put down! It is not a happy ending for most dogs.
